Leadership Development
Public Group active 7 months, 2 weeks agoThe Office of Leadership Development is currently located in the Classroom Building Basement. However, we are excited to be moving back into the Student Union soon! We will be located on the second floor of the Student Union in the new Center for Ethical Leadership.
The Center for Ethical Leadership aims to enhance interdisciplinary leadership education at OSU by planning and developing the following:
1) Clearinghouse – The Center will act as a clearinghouse for leadership education opportunities through the collaborative efforts of academically sound leadership programs at OSU.
2) Communities of Ethical Leaders – The Center will build on student initiatives to foster interdisciplinary communities of ethical student leaders via leadership simulation field experiences, ethics and leadership study abroad, and a moderated social networking website.
3) Program Evaluation and Sustainable Funding – The purpose of the program evaluation will e to collect data, provide feedback for program improvement, and prepare reports to support future sustainable funding initiatives.
Some other programs in the Leadership Development Office are:
*Leadership Minor Program – an 18 hour academic and experiential opportunity for all students to develop and enhance their abilities to lead. Students must also complete at least 40 hours of documented service learning experience or specific community service.
*President’s Leadership Council – A scholarship and leadership program for outstanding incoming freshman that teaches the importance of leadership and service throughout life.
*LEAD Program – In recognition of the importance of acknowledging the achievements of student leaders and to encourage emerging leaders at OSU, this program is open to all OSU students.
*Leadership Study Abroad – A great opportunity for students to learn and experience leadership in different cultural settings receiving academic credit at the same time. This program provides academic international experiences that enhance the student’s personal and professional leadership development.
