Academic Learning Teams
Public Group active 2 weeks, 4 days agoDo you want a guide for your freshman year? Academic Learning Teams are just for you! These Teams take your passions and turn them into momentum for classes, extracurricular activities, and life. These communities are supported by two Residential Leaders who will help each participant set academic and personal goals as well as mentor students through the entire freshman year.
The Academic Learning Teams meet weekly and have exciting social and educational events, trips, and an online experience. Residential Leaders set up group studying sessions, tutoring, and academic skills programs as well as provide individualized plans for participants.
This year we have five Academic Learning Teams. They are available to residents who live in Drummond, Kerr, Parker, or Wentz.
The Living Arts and Creative Scholars Academic Learning Team (Wentz Hall) is an interdisciplinary residential community that brings together undergraduates in the arts, architecture, engineering, and other fields to explore innovation, creativity and collaboration.
The Community Leadership Scholars Academic Learning Team (Drummond or Kerr Hall) is a residential community for students with an interest in community service and a commitment to academic excellence, civic engagement, leadership and social justice. Provides students with the unique opportunity to explore various elements of leadership and ultimately discover their own personal leadership style. Challenges participants to be active social change agents in society and fosters an environment that encourages students to explore and learn about themselves in fun and interactive ways.
The Global Scholars Academic Learning Team (Wentz Hall) is an interdisciplinary residential community who are interested in international relations, political science, cross-cultural communication, history, sociology, or foreign languages as well as those students interested in studying abroad.
The Health and Wellness Scholars Academic Learning Team (Parker Hall) is a residential community where first year students will get the opportunity to increase their understanding of issues surrounding physical health, general wellness, nutrition, stress management, maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The Sustainability Scholars Academic Learning Team (Drummond or Kerr Hall) is an interdisciplinary residential community that is focused on a sustainable lifestyle. This community will explore ways to lead and demonstrate sustainability methods and practices that will be used in everyday life.

Academic Learning Teams: 1 year, 10 months agoIf you are a freshman take advantage of this program! Being a freshman can be scary. Taking part in this would be a good idea to make you feel better about your classes. Freshman are new and some are tempted to engage in bad activities. I feel as if this program would help people get away from that.
